Laurent Slama (France, 1989) previously worked under the pseudonym Elisabeth Vogler—a tribute to Bergman's "Persona"—directing "Paris Is Us" (2019) and "Années 20" (2022), the latter winning an award at Tribeca. A former editor and cinematographer, he chose his own name to film "A Second Life."

Synopsis
Set on the opening day of the 2024 Paris Olympics, a deaf Franco-American woman (Agatha Rousselle) navigates the stress of her job and a platonic romance with a Californian traveler. Director Slama employs a realistic style where the protagonist's hearing impairment becomes a metaphor for the rigidity and tension of urban labor.
