Carla Simón (Barcelona, 1986) is a celebrated Spanish filmmaker. Her debut "Summer 1993" (2017) won Best First Feature at the Berlinale. Her second film, "Alcarràs" (2022), made history by winning the Golden Bear at the Berlinale. In 2025, she premiered "Romería" in the Official Competition at Cannes, completing a family trilogy centered on personal memory.

Synopsis
Carla Simón explores her family's silence regarding her parents' death from AIDS in 1992. Traveling to Vigo, a fictionalized version of Simón seeks to confront the stigma and the "ominous cloak of silence" imposed by the upper class. A politically charged and deeply personal reckoning with family resentment.
