Synopsis
Directed by and starring Shahrbanoo Sadat, this film observes the subaltern condition of women in pre-Taliban Kabul. Eschewing the rhetoric of "message cinema," Sadat finds power in the everyday life of a camerawoman navigating a patriarchal structure. Balancing gravity with a unique sense of humor, it confirms Sadat as a lucid narrator capable of finding humanity within tragedy.
