Clara, a 19-year-old Quechua apprentice midwife, leaves her Andean community to become a singer in the city. Her departure coincides with mysterious deaths and crop failures in her village, attributed to her absence. "La hija cóndor" avoids a polarized view of country vs. city, instead showing with a steady hand the difficulties of an indigenous community trying to preserve its traditions in a world that fails to understand them.
