Radu Jude (Bucharest, 1977) is a central figure in contemporary European cinema. A graduate of the Media University of Bucharest, he won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale for "Aferim!" (2015). His diverse filmography—including "Scarred Hearts" (2016) and "Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World" (2023)—is noted for its biting social critique and formal audacity.

Synopsis

Radu Jude reimagines Dracula as a satirical, experimental metaphor for late capitalism and cultural colonialism. Moving away from Gothic clichés, the film situates the "monster" in contemporary ideologies. Here, vampirism is economic exploitation and distorted historical memory, critiquing how the West has exoticized and consumed Eastern Europe.
