Fernanda Tovar (Mexico City, 1991) graduated from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC). In 2022, her short "My Age, Your Age, and the Age of the World" screened at Cannes Critics' Week. She is an alumna of Berlinale Talents and a FONCA fellow. "Triste Girls" is her first feature film.

Synopsis
Two inseparable teenage swimmers face a shattering turning point after a party incident. As fear, guilt, and rage begin to fracture their friendship, the film explores the devastating weight of naming an experience. It’s a raw, emotional study of the decisions that redefine identity and the bonds that are tested by trauma.
