Synopsis
This film marks the mesmerizing arrival of Gabriel Azorín on the international avant-garde scene. In his first feature, he ventures into risky territory, layering a subtext beneath seemingly simple scenes of young people immersed in Roman baths. What begins as deceptive realism gradually unfolds into a shifting landscape of emotional connections—friendship, desire, and love—revealed through hesitant gestures and fragmented expressions. With striking cinematography and a dreamlike atmosphere, Anoche conquisté Tebas becomes an evanescent, timeless work where relationships seem suspended between past and present.
