SÉRGIO TRÉFAUT

(San Pablo, Brasil, 1965)

De madre francesa y padre portugués. A los diez años su familia tuvo que huir de Brasil en un exilio político. Se formó en filosofía en la Sorbonne y comenzó a trabajar en Lisboa como periodista. Empezó a realizar y producir audiovisuales en Portugal. Sérgio es fundador de la APR (Asociación Portuguesa de Realizadores), creó y codirigió el festival Doclisboa de 2004 a 2010. Todas sus películas fueron premiadas en festivales internacionales y exhibidas en más de 50 países. Sus principales documentales son Outro País (1999), Fleurette (2002), Lisboetas (2005), A Cidade dos Mortos (2009), Alentejo, Alentejo (2014), Treblinka (2016) y Paraíso (2021). Su estreno de ficción, Viagem a Portugal (2011), con Maria de Medeiros, recibió varios premios. Raiva (2018) ganó los principales premios de la Academia Portuguesa de Cine. Born to a French mother and a Portuguese father, at the age of ten, his family had to flee Brazil due to political exile. He studied philosophy at the Sorbonne and began working as a journalist in Lisbon. Sérgio started creating and producing audiovisual content in Portugal. He is the founder of APR (Portuguese Directors’ Association) and co-directed the Doclisboa festival from 2004 to 2010. All of his films have received awards at international festivals and have been screened in more than 50 countries. His notable documentaries include «Outro País» (1999), «Fleurette» (2002), «Lisboetas» (2005), «A Cidade dos Mortos» (2009), «Alentejo, Alentejo» (2014), «Treblinka» (2016), and «Paraíso» (2021). His fiction debut, «Viagem a Portugal» (2011), starring Maria de Medeiros, received several awards. «Raiva» (2018) won major awards from the Portuguese Academy of Cinema. His latest film, «A Noiva» (2022), recently shot in Iraq and premiered at the Venice Film Festival, features a more radical language.

JOSÉ LUIS LOSA

(Santiago de Compostela, España, 1965)

Escritor, periodista y director del festival de cine más importante de Galicia, el Cineuropa Film Festival, desde su fundación (1987) hasta hoy. Como actor político ha ejercido en diferentes etapas como consultor del PSOE, y publicó la novela de no ficción Caza de rojos; una investigación centrada en la larga clandestinidad del Partido Comunista de España, y en la rivalidad entre Jorge Semprún y el líder del partido Santiago Carrillo, que agitó las aguas de la izquierda. En Uruguay, algunos de sus análisis más recientes sobre la política española se publicaron en el semanario Brecha. Ha sido comentarista de Le Monde Diplomatique en su edición española. Columnista y crítico de cine de El Correo Gallego, Cadena SER, Antena 3 TV y La Voz de Galicia. Para este último diario cubre el circuito de festivales internacionales de cine a lo largo del año. Ha participado como jurado internacional en los festivales de San Sebastián, La Habana, Jerusalén, Sitges, Barcelona , Locarno y Rotterdam, entre otros.

Writer, journalist, and director of the most important film festival in Galicia, the Cineuropa Film Festival, since its founding in 1987 until today. As a political figure, he has served at various times as a consultant for the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) and published the non-fiction novel «Caza de rojos» (Hunting Reds), an investigation focused on the long clandestinity of the Communist Party of Spain and the rivalry between Jorge Semprún and the party leader Santiago Carrillo, which stirred the waters of the left. In Uruguay, some of his recent analyses of Spanish politics have been published in the weekly magazine Brecha. He has been a commentator for Le Monde Diplomatique in its Spanish edition, and a columnist and film critic for El Correo Gallego, Cadena SER, Antena 3 TV, and La Voz de Galicia. For the latter newspaper, he covers the circuit of international film festivals throughout the year. He has participated as an international jury member in festivals such as San Sebastián, Havana, Jerusalem, Sitges, Barcelona, Locarno, and Rotterdam, among others.

ANKE VAN HAASTRECHT

(Amsterdam, Países Bajos, 1950)

Doctora en Humanidades con especialización en cine de la Universidad de Amsterdam. Como investigadora y conferencista abarca campos como el de los estudios culturales, el análisis crítico del discurso, la narratología, la semiótica y el análisis cinematográfico, con un enfoque principal en el análisis transcultural de la cultura popular, incluyendo las películas y las telenovelas. También indaga en la ficción audiovisual y su rol en la transmisión de valores culturales. Es docente a nivel de posgrado, grado y pregrado. Ha compartido sus conocimientos en universidades de Holanda, Jordania, Siria, Alemania, Marruecos, España, Uruguay y México. Actualmente participa activamente en instituciones como la Universidad de Ámsterdam, Eye Filmmuseum, el Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de Ámsterdam, Cicerones y De Kring. Su compromiso con este campo se refleja en la publicación de su nuevo libro: Rebelión contra el poder: el discurso fílmico de María Luisa Bemberg.

Ph.D. in Humanities with a specialization in film from the University of Amsterdam. As a researcher and lecturer, she covers various fields such as cultural studies, critical discourse analysis, narratology, semiotics, and film analysis, with a primary focus on transcultural analysis of popular culture, including films and soap operas. She also explores audiovisual fiction and its role in transmitting cultural values. She teaches at the postgraduate, undergraduate, and graduate levels and has shared her expertise at universities in the Netherlands, Jordan, Syria, Germany, Morocco, Spain, Uruguay, and Mexico. Currently, she is actively involved in institutions such as the University of Amsterdam, Eye Filmmuseum, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, Cicerones, and De Kring. Her dedication to this field is reflected in the publication of her new book: «Rebellion against Power: The Film Discourse of María Luisa Bemberg.»

LAURA FERRÉS

(El Prat de Llobregat, España, 1989)

Guionista y directora. Su cortometraje, Los Desheredados, se estrenó en la Semaine de la Critique del Festival de Cannes, donde ganó el premio al mejor cortometraje. Proyectado en 80 festivales más, nominado a los Premios del Cine Europeo y galardonado como mejor cortometraje en los premios Goya y en los Premios Gaudí, entre otros. En los cines de España fue la primera vez que un cortometraje se estrenó de forma autónoma. Su primer largometraje, La Imatge Permanent, se estrenó en la Sección Oficial del Festival de Locarno y ganó la Espiga de Oro en la Semana Internacional del Cine de Valladolid. La película sigue su recorrido por festivales luego de conseguir las nominaciones a mejor película en los Premios Feroz; así como otras nominaciones en los Premios Gaudí y en los Premios Goya. El largometraje El Rey del Aire, participará en la Residencia de Guiones de la Academia del Cine Catalán para desarrollar el guión durante un año. Además, ha impartido clases de dirección en ESCAC y la Universidad Pompeu Fabra en Barcelona.

Screenwriter and director. Her short film, «Los Desheredados,» premiered at the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the award for the best short film. It was screened at 80 more festivals, nominated for the European Film Awards, and awarded Best Short Film at the Goya Awards and the Gaudí Awards, among others. In Spanish cinemas, it was the first time a short film was released independently. Her debut feature film, «La Imatge Permanent,» premiered in the Official Selection of the Locarno Festival and won the Golden Spike at the Valladolid International Film Week. In addition to her work in filmmaking, she has taught directing at ESCAC and Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona.

DANIELLE TROTTIER

(Québec, Canadá, 1956)

Magister en Museología y en Educación en las Universidades de Québec-Montréal, y la Universidad de Sherbrooke. Doctorado Honoris Causa de la Universidad de Québec, por toda su carrera. Ha realizado diversos cursos de escritura de guiones. Entre 1977-1980 fue Agente cultural de la Biblioteca central de préstamos de Outaouais y Laurentides, Hull. Entre 1980-1985 fue Directora General del Sitio histórico La Maison Dumulon, Rouyn-Noranda. Entre 1986-1999 fue Directora fundadora del Departamento de Turismo y Museología, Collège Montmorency, Laval y Directora de la Galería de Arte del Collège Montmorency. Autora de las series: Emma de 93 episodios, ganadora de varios premios de interpretación y del público; La Promesa de 182 episodios, ganadora de varios premios; Unidad 9 de 169 episodios, emitida internacionalmente y ganadora de varios premios; Toute la vie de 72 episodios, nominada a varios premios; À cœur battant, emitida en enero de 2023.

Master’s degrees in Museology and Education from the Université du Québec à Montréal and the Université de Sherbrooke. Received an honorary doctorate from the Université du Québec in recognition of her entire career. She has taken various scriptwriting courses. From 1977 to 1980, she served as a Cultural Agent at the Central Lending Library for Outaouais and Laurentides in Hull. From 1980 to 1985, she was the General Director of the historical site La Maison Dumulon in Rouyn-Noranda. Between 1986 and 1999, she was the founding Director of the Tourism and Museology Department at Collège Montmorency in Laval and the Director of the Art Gallery at Collège Montmorency. She is the author of several series, including «Emma,» a 93-episode series that won various awards for performance and audience choice; «La Promesse,» a 182-episode series, also the recipient of multiple awards; «Unité 9,» a 169-episode series broadcast internationally and winner of numerous awards; «Toute la vie,» a 72-episode series nominated for several awards; and «À cœur battant,» aired in January 2023.

(Brasilia, Brasil, 1976)

Dirigió siete cortometrajes entre 2002 y 2008. Desde 2012, estrenó como director, productor y guionista los siguientes largometrajes: Nove Crônicas para um Coração aos Berros (2012), premiado por el jurado de ACCU/FIPRESCI en el Festival Internacional del Uruguay y exhibido en toda América Latina en Netflix; Uma Dose Violenta de Qualquer Coisa (2013), aclamado por la crítica con un amplio estreno en Brasil; Ainda Temos a Imensidão da Noite (2019) premiada en BAFICI (Mejor Actuación) y en el Festival de Brasilia (Mejor Fotografía y Mejor Montaje) y estrenada en plataformas en 119 países; en 2023 estrenó los largometrajes: Inventário de Imagens Perdidas (selección del Festival Internacional del Uruguay) y O Vazio de Domingo à Tarde.

GONZALO GARCÍA-PELAYO SEGOVIA

(Madrid, España, 1947)

Es un emprendedor español que ha sido productor musical, presentador y director. En los años noventa saltó a la fama por obtener grandes ganancias en casinos de todo el mundo con el juego de ruleta, después de diseñar un método legal para ganar en las mesas de ruleta de los casinos, aprovechándose de imperfecciones en la fabricación de las mesas. Ha sido productor musical, director de cine, locutor de radio, presentador de televisión, jugador de casino y hasta apoderado. Tras iniciar Filosofía y Letras en la Universidad de Sevilla, marchó a París y posteriormente entró en la Escuela de Cine de Madrid, que no llegó a terminar. Entre 1976 y 2016 dirigió trece largometrajes. Recientemente realizó 10 películas en un solo año y recientemente terminó otro ciclo otras diez realizadas entre 2023 y 2024, todas, en este caso, de nacionalidad argentina. Desde 1990 Gonzalo García-Pelayo y gran parte de su familia trabajan en el campo de la probabilidad en los juegos de azar, estudiando y desarrollando métodos para ganar en el ámbito del juego.

He is a Spanish entrepreneur who has been a music producer, presenter, and director. In the 1990s, he rose to fame for making significant profits in casinos worldwide using a legal method he designed to win at roulette tables, taking advantage of imperfections in the manufacturing of the tables. He has worked as a music producer, film director, radio host, television presenter, casino player, and even a manager. After starting his studies in Philosophy and Letters at the University of Seville, he moved to Paris and later entered the Film School of Madrid, which he did not complete. Between 1976 and 2016, he directed thirteen feature films. Recently, he made 10 films in a single year and completed another cycle with ten films made between 2023 and 2024, all of them of Argentine nationality. Since 1990, Gonzalo García-Pelayo and much of his family have been working in the field of probability in gambling, studying and developing methods to win in the gambling industry.

AGUSTÍN ACEVEDO KANOPA

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 1985)

Periodista, escritor y psicólogo, escribe semanalmente sobre cine y música en La diaria desde el 2008, habiendo colaborado en otros medios como BBC Culture, el New York Times, Vice Magazine, Revista Lento y Revista Quiroga, donde se han publicado perfiles, crónicas y ensayos de su autoría. Ha sido jurado oficial y FIPRESCI en los festivales de Rotterdam, Mannheim-Heidelberg, Mar del Plata y Cinemateca. Tiene cuatro libros de ficción publicados. Ha dictado talleres de crítica y se desempeña como profesor de historia del cine en la ECU.

Journalist, writer, and psychologist, he has been writing weekly about film and music in La diaria since 2008. He has also contributed to other media outlets such as BBC Culture, the New York Times, Vice Magazine, Revista Lento, and Revista Quiroga, where profiles, chronicles, and essays authored by him have been published. CRISTIANE OLIVEIRA

(Porto Alegre, Brasil, 1979)

Directora de los largometrajes Mulher do Pai (Brasil, Uruguay, 2016), A Primeira Morte de Joana (Brasil, Francia, 2021) y Até que a Música Pare (Brasil, Italia, 2023). Juntos ganaron más de 30 premios: el Premio FIPRESCI en el Festival Internacional de Uruguay, el Global Vision Award en el Festival Cinequest (EE.UU.), Mejor Guion en el Festival de Valencia, Premio de la Crítica en la Mostra de São Paulo y Mejor Director en el Festival de Río, entre otros. En los más de 60 festivales en los que fueron proyectadas, están los festivales de Berlín, Goa (India) y Guadalajara, además de tradicionales festivales de nicho como NewFest LGBTQ+ NY y el Festival Internacional de Estocolmo Junior.

CLARA CHARLO

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 1986)

Graduada de la Escuela Nacional de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica (E.N.E.R.C.–I.N.C.A.A.) en Argentina en el año 2010. Responsable del área de Mercado en Doc Montevideo desde el año 2018, y coordinadora logística desde el año 2013 hasta 2017. Coordinadora de Industria de ARCA International Film Festival, en 2022 en MACA. Forma parte del equipo de trabajo de TAL (Televisión América Latina) y es Productora General de Premios TAL desde 2018. Entre 2018 y 2020 fue tutora de egresos de la ECU. Ha trabajado como jefa, asistente de producción y asistente de producción ejecutiva en televisión y largometrajes. Entre 2016 y 2018, se desempeñó como Line Producer en La Jolla Films. Produce el contenido infantil El Cuco de las Matemáticas de Marco Caltieri y el largometraje En El Pozo, de Bernardo y Rafael Antonaccio. En el 2019 comienza a trabajar con Carles Prats en el desarrollo de varios proyectos en Barcelona. En el año 2021 estrena en Tv Ciudad y Canal 5 la serie de ficción Metro de Montevideo, de Marco Caltieri, en la cual realizó la producción ejecutiva y la producción general. Produjo la serie animada TV Educativa, bajo la dirección de Marco Caltieri y Pablo Marcovecchio. En el año 2023 estrena el documental Gurisitos, de José Pedro Charlo en salas en Uruguay; actualmente planificando su estreno y distribución internacional.

She graduated from the National School of Experimentation and Filmmaking (E.N.E.R.C.–I.N.C.A.A.) in Argentina in 2010. Since 2018, she has been responsible for the Market area at Doc Montevideo and served as the logistical coordinator from 2013 to 2017. She was the Industry Coordinator at ARCA International Film Festival in 2022 at MACA. She is a part of the TAL (Television America Latina) team and has been the General Producer of Premios TAL since 2018. Between 2018 and 2020, she was a tutor for graduates of ECU. She has worked as a head, production assistant, and executive production assistant in television and feature films. From 2016 to 2018, she worked as a Line Producer at La Jolla Films. She produces the children’s content «El Cuco de las Matemáticas» by Marco Caltieri and the feature film «En El Pozo» by Bernardo and Rafael Antonaccio. In 2019, she started working with Carles Prats on the development of various projects in Barcelona. In 2021, she premiered the fiction series «Metro de Montevideo,» directed by Marco Caltieri, on Tv Ciudad and Canal 5, where she served as the executive and general producer. She produced the animated series «TV Educativa,» directed by Marco Caltieri and Pablo Marcovecchio. SYLVIA PEREL

(Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1944)

Es la fundadora/directora del Festival Internacional de Cine Latino – San Francisco Bay Area (1997-2008), del Festival de Cine Todos Santos en Baja California Sur, México en su 19ava edición y es Co-Directora Artística del Festival du Cinéma et Mémoire Commune en Nador, Marruecos. Ha curado programas para festivales internacionales en Trieste, Italia, Málaga, Moscú, el Festival de Nador, y el Festival de las Artes en Agadir, en Marruecos. Sylvia es invitada regularmente como jurado a festivales internacionales como Moscú, New Delhi, Kerala, Atenas, Málaga, Valladolid, Madrid, San Francisco, London, Marruecos entre otros. Sylvia fundó en 1998 la Escuela de Cine Leonardo Perel, un proyecto que ha creado más de 30 películas producidas por niños y adolescentes en EEUU, México y Argentina. Su película Alicia en el país de las ballenas (dirección, producción y guion) está actualmente en circuito de festivales internacionales.

She is the founder/director of the International Latino Film Festival – San Francisco Bay Area (1997-2008), the Todos Santos Film Festival in Baja California Sur, Mexico (in its 19th edition), and serves as the Artistic Co-Director of the Festival du Cinéma et Mémoire Commune in Nador, Morocco. She has curated programs for international festivals in Trieste, Italy, Malaga, Moscow, the Festival de Nador, and the Festival de las Artes in Agadir, Morocco. Sylvia is regularly invited as a jury member to international festivals such as Moscow, New Delhi, Kerala, Athens, Malaga, Valladolid, Madrid, San Francisco, London, Morocco, among others. ANA GONTAD

(Pontevedra, España, 1979)

Licenciada en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, obtuvo el Diploma de Estudios Avanzados en Estudios de Arte y Música en la misma universidad en 2011, y un máster en Gestión Cultural por la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya en 2013. Se especializa y desarrolla su tesis de doctorado, congresos; seminarios; publicaciones científicas; su blog personal; el magazine Culturamas, en Historia del Cine. Coordinó, junto a Diego Vázquez Meizoso, la exposición Los cines de Compostela. Fotogramas de nuestra historia. Trabajó en el festival Cineuropa entre 2014 y 2022 como responsable de comunicación digital, ayudante de producción y programadora. Asimismo, además de programadora entre los años 2016 y 2020, dirigió el Festival Primavera do Cine en Vigo en su edición de 2021. Participó como jurado en festivales nacionales e internacionales. En la actualidad, es miembro de la Academia Gallega del Audiovisual, co-directora del festival gallego Cinema a Pedal, y responsable de programación en el departamento de acción cultural de la Ciudad de la Cultura de Galicia.

She holds a degree in Art History from the University of Santiago de Compostela, obtained the Advanced Studies Diploma in Art and Music Studies from the same university in 2011, and a master’s degree in Cultural Management from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in 2013. Specializing in and developing her doctoral thesis in the field, she has been involved in conferences, seminars, scientific publications, her personal blog, and the magazine Culturamas, all focused on the History of Cinema. She co-coordinated, along with Diego Vázquez Meizoso, the exhibition «Los cines de Compostela. Fotogramas de nuestra historia» (The Cinemas of Compostela: Frames of Our History). Between 2014 and 2022, she worked at the Cineuropa festival, holding roles such as digital communication manager, production assistant, and programmer. In addition to being a programmer from 2016 to 2020, she directed the Primavera do Cine Festival in Vigo in its 2021 edition. She has served as a jury member in national and international festivals. Currently, she is a member of the Galician Academy of Audiovisual, co-director of the Galician festival Cinema a Pedal, and responsible for programming in the cultural action department of the City of Culture of Galicia.

FLORENCIA GARCÍA

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 2000)

Se encuentra terminando la Lic. en Comunicación Audiovisual de la ORT. Realizó múltiples cursos y talleres especializados, entre ellos Asistencia de Dirección (Diego Ferrando Mazzotti), Continuidad Audiovisual (Carolina Graña) de ECU, Dirección de actores (ARCO – Gabriel Pérez) e Iluminación para cine (Musitelli). Participó en diversos cortometrajes, largometrajes y series: Virus 32, Las 7 balas, Cromañón, Margarita. En 2021 dirigió el videoclip Distancia, ganador del festival FENACIES. En 2023 dirigió sus primeros cortometrajes Permanecer y Lobos, ambos en postproducción, y produjo el cortometraje Falco, ganador del concurso de guiones del festival DETOUR. Este año comenzó el desarrollo de su primer largometraje.

He is completing his Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication at ORT. He has taken multiple specialized courses and workshops, including Assistant Directing (Diego Ferrando Mazzotti), Audiovisual Continuity (Carolina Graña) at ECU, Acting Direction (ARCO – Gabriel Pérez), and Lighting for Film (Musitelli). He has participated in various short films, feature films, and series: Virus 32, Las 7 balas, Cromañón, Margarita. In 2021, he directed the music video «Distancia,» which won the FENACIES festival. In 2023, he directed his first short films, Permanecer and Lobos, both in post-production, and produced the short film Falco, winner of the script contest at the DETOUR festival. This year, he began the development of his first feature film.

AGUSTÍN RAMOS

(Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, 2005)

Siente afinidad por el cine y por lo audiovisual desde una edad temprana. Llevó su pasión a un área más académica y profesional cuando comenzó el bachillerato audiovisual a los 15 años, ahí expandió sus conocimientos a un nivel más técnico, estudiando la teoría y la práctica de contar historias mediante el arte cinematográfico. En 2022 ingresó becado a la carrera de realización cinematográfica en la escuela Dodecá, y éste año iniciará la Licenciatura en Letras de la Udelar. Además de ver cine, en sus tiempos libres disfruta leer, escribir y tomar fotografías.

They have felt an affinity for cinema and audiovisual content from an early age. They translated their passion into a more academic and professional realm when they started their audiovisual studies at the age of 15. There, they expanded their knowledge to a more technical level, studying the theory and practice of storytelling through cinematic art. In 2022, they entered the film production program at Dodecá on a scholarship, and this year they will begin their Bachelor’s in Literature at Udelar. Besides watching films, they enjoy reading, writing, and taking photographs in their free time.

LUCIANA AMARO TOCOLI

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 2005)

Cursó el bachillerato artístico. En 2023 terminó el diplomado en Dirección de Arte de la ECU, y realizó los talleres de Cine Inicial y Análisis Cinematográfico. Le interesa el diseño de vestuario, y planea cursar la carrera de Diseño Textil en la FADU. Le interesa incursionar en otras áreas dentro del cine, y en el mundo de la crítica cinematográfica. Le gustan los westerns y el cine de horror, y disfruta de conocer nuevos cineastas, cine con perspectiva feminista o directores latinoamericanos; tipos de cine que quizás no son tan aclamados o a los cuales es más difícil acceder. Además de esto, escribe y lee poesía, y le gusta dibujar, cosas que enriquecen su disfrute del cine.

They pursued an artistic high school diploma. In 2023, they completed the Art Direction diploma at ECU and participated in workshops on Initial Filmmaking and Film Analysis. They have a keen interest in costume design and plan to pursue a degree in Textile Design at FADU. They aspire to explore various areas within the film industry and venture into film criticism. Their cinematic preferences include a fondness for Westerns and horror films. They enjoy discovering new filmmakers, films with a feminist perspective, or works by Latin American directors—genres and perspectives that may not receive as much acclaim or are more challenging to access. Estudiante de la Licenciatura en Comunicación de la UdelaR. Participó del Taller de Cine dictado en el liceo Elbio Fernández. Desde 2023 escribe artículos de crítica cinematográfica para la Revista FILM y colabora esporádicamente con artículos sobre cine en la revista independiente SoloROCK. En 2022 escribió y dirigió un cortometraje que obtuvo el primer premio en Videos en el concurso Mostrá Tu Arte de la UCU. Participó en el videoclip ¿qué vas a hacer? de la artista independiente Abiiri como director, director de fotografía y montajista. Colaboró en la 11va edición del Festival de Cine Nuevo Detour y colabora activamente en la digitalización de información de la base de datos cinedata.uy.

A student in the Bachelor’s program in Communication at UdelaR, they participated in the Film Workshop at Elbio Fernández high school. Since 2023, they have been writing articles on film criticism for the FILM Magazine and occasionally contribute articles on cinema to the independent magazine SoloROCK. In 2022, they wrote and directed a short film that won the first prize in the «Mostrá Tu Arte» contest at UCU. Le encanta conocer lugares nuevos y los animales. Su hobbie es actuar. Descubrió que es fanática del cine cuando actuó en una fiesta de fin de curso. Le encanta mirar películas y la colección de Harry Potter, pero es un desafío mirarlas completas en su casa ya que sus hermanos mellizos de 3 años son muy inquietos. Hace tiempo fue con sus padres a ver una obra de teatro que le hizo amar este arte y ver la importancia de la actuación. El año pasado hizo un taller de teatro donde le enseñaron de reacciones, a actuar; a apreciar las sombras, las artes dentro del teatro, y mucho más. Dentro del taller hizo un corto de La sociedad de los poetas muertos, su película favorita. Este año presentará una obra de Hannah Montana. Su mejor amiga y sus padres siempre le apoyaron e impulsaron en lo teatral. Tiene tres gatos: Felix, Miya y Roberta. Estos últimos dos llegaron de la nada, pero los adoptaron igual. Aparte del teatro, también hacía voley, que seguramente vuelva a retomar este año.

She grew up surrounded by movies, series, and children’s shorts, which sparked her interest in becoming an actress. A while ago, she went with her parents to see a play that made her fall in love with this art form and understand the importance of acting. Last year, she took a theater workshop where she learned about reactions, acting, appreciating the nuances, the arts within the theater, and much more. During the workshop, she made a short film inspired by «Dead Poets Society,» her favorite movie. This year, she will present a play inspired by Hannah Montana. Her best friend and her parents have always supported and encouraged her in her theatrical pursuits. She has three cats: Felix, Miya, and Roberta. Su pasión por el cine comenzó cuando tenía tres o cuatro años. En su casa tenían un reproductor de DVD y con su hermano veían películas. Su favorita era Spiderman de Tobey y Andrew. Al crecer, ese amor por las historias fantásticas continuó y se interesó por cómo se hacían y quiénes las hacían. Comenzó a interesarse por historias más serias o “realistas” y por el mundo de las series de TV: Breaking Bad, Los Soprano y Sitcoms como The Big Bang Theory, Malcolm in the middle, entre otras. En 2019 participó como extra en la película Desperté con un sueño, dirigida por Pablo Solaz, lo que le permitió ver cómo se hacían las películas. Su amor por el cine ha seguido creciendo y presiente que será algo que le acompañará toda la vida.

His passion for cinema began when he was three or four years old. At home, they had a DVD player, and he and his brother would watch movies. Vive con sus padres y su hermano, desde chica siempre le interesó todo lo relacionado con la actuación: bailaba y cantaba frente al espejo imaginándose, a través de la música, escenarios en su cabeza. Le encanta la música y la actuación, le transmiten paz. Fue descubriendo el cine gracias a su tía, quien hace teatro pero siempre le contaba cosas sobre cine, cosa que le hacía feliz. Cursará segundo año de liceo y su materia favorita es idioma español, le gusta escribir y crear historias. El año pasado hizo un curso de audiovisual en la escuela La Escena de Montevideo donde realizó un corto como muestra final. También participó en un audiovisual en la obra de teatro Voz y Voto.

Participó del Talents Buenos Aires, de la Berlinale Talents en 2020. Es docente en la Universidad ORT Uruguay. Integra la comunidad de cineastas de los Premios Platino y es curadora del Festival de Cine y Envejecimiento. Es cofundadora de Monarca Films, co-produjo las películas El hombre congelado de Carolina Campo, Ópera prima de Marcos Banina, Ocho cuentos sobre mi hipoacusia de Charo Mato, Delia de Victoria Pena, Para no olvidar de Laura Gabay y Cambalache de Rosalía Alonso. Su ópera prima como directora es la película Ese soplo.. Con un perfil social y de derechos humanos, su trabajo explora la intimidad en las historias y para conectarlas con nuestra sociedad. Estas películas han participado en importantes festivales. GUILLERMO ZABALETA

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 1965)

Actor, artista visual y docente. Es miembro de la Fundación de Arte Contemporáneo donde dirige el Laboratorio de Cine desde el 2009, trazando un programa de formación con una perspectiva pedagógica que articula proyectos colectivos, colaborativos, participativos y comunitarios. Impartió talleres de cine en Madrid, Murcia, Lima, La Habana, y es invitado a la Maestría de Cine Alternativo en San Antonio de los Baños, en Cuba. Como artista participó en la Bienal de la Imagen en Movimiento (BIM) Argentina, en la III Bienal de Montevideo, la 12ª Bienal de La Habana, la IX y X Bienal de Salto, la Bienal Europea Manifesta 8-Murcia, así como en más de 10 festivales nacionales e internacionales. Integra la Panorámica histórica del Arte Contemporáneo Uruguayo en 2016. Su obra se incluye en muestras tales como Ismo, Ismo, Ismo: Experimental Cinema in Latin America, Redcat. L.A EE.UU; en Cine a contracorriente (CCCB), Barcelona; en La pantalla pintada, Argentina; y Film-Makers’ Cooperative NY, entre otros. Obtuvo el primer premio en el 60º Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales, “Gladys Afamado”, y el reconocimiento a la labor docente en Arte y Tecnología otorgado por la Anilla Cultural Latinoamérica.

ÁLVARO GAGO

(Vigo, España, 1986)

En 2017 dirigió el cortometraje Matria, nominado a los Goya y ganador del Gran Premio del Jurado del Festival de Sundance 2018. En 2021 volvió a ser nominado al Goya por su cortometraje 16 de decembro, estrenado en la sección Pardi di Domani de Locarno. Su primer largometraje, Matria, que parte del corto homónimo, se estrenó en la sección Panorama de la 73ª edición de la Berlinale, recibiendo posteriormente varios premios y nominaciones en importantes festivales de cine. La película se estrena en las salas de cine de España, Francia, Italia, Grecia y Portugal. Actualmente está desarrollando su segundo largometraje de ficción, Porto Alegre, en el marco del programa Rueda de la Academia de Cine.

Sus reseñas también se han publicado en otros portales como lavidaenuncine.wordpress.com y la atemporal.com.uy. Desde 2021 realiza una columna quincenal en el programa de Radio Cultura, Espíritu libre. También ha participado en diversas audiciones en calidad de invitado. Su natural rasgo cinéfilo se ha visto potenciado gracias a valiosos cursos de crítica impartidos por, entre otros, Manuel Martínez Carril y el periodista argentino Javier Porta Fouz.

LUCÍA MOREIRA

Es productora. Varios de sus proyectos cinematográficos han sido premiados internacionalmente. Participó en la Berlinale Talents 2022. Es Licenciada en Comunicación Audiovisual, gestora cultural. Ha realizado diplomaturas en distribución y marketing cinematográfico, y tiene experiencia en Producción y Coproducción internacional. En 2019, fundó un cineclub llamado TBC para crear una comunidad entre amantes del séptimo arte que buscan formarse. Desde 2022 es miembro ACCU y trabaja como crítica. Desde 2022, es coordinadora de Working JIIFF, el espacio de industria del Festival Internacional de cine de José Ignacio. Al siguiente año funda Ojos de cine, un medio de crítica de cine digital con el apoyo de “Sembramedia” y “Google News Initiative”.

She is a producer, and several of her film projects have received international awards. She participated in Berlinale Talents 2022 and holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication, specializing in cultural management. She has completed diploma courses in film distribution and marketing and has experience in international film production and co-production. In 2019, she founded a film club called TBC to create a community for cinephiles seeking education. Since 2022, she has been a member of ACCU and works as a film critic. Also, since 2022, she has been the coordinator of Working JIIFF, the industry space of the International Film Festival of José Ignacio. The following year, she founded Ojos de Cine, a digital film review platform with the support of «Sembramedia» and «Google News Initiative.»

JUAN RECUERO

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 2001)

Es realizador, fotógrafo fijo y crítico emergente. Egresó de la ECU y hace cobertura fotográfica de las charlas organizadas por la Escuela. Escribe en su blog personal Medium firmando bajo el seudónimo de «J. Recuero» y en inglés bajo «Jo Brennan», además de escribir para el semanario Brecha. Ha participado en las encuestas de las mejores películas estrenadas en 2022 y 2023 para Nexos y Mapa del Cine de Latinoamericano, organizado por el Festival Internacional de Cine de Valdivia, en conjunto con las revistas La rabia; Revista Oropel; Desistfilm; La vida útil, y Simulacro Mag. Como realizador, ha dirigido cortometrajes entre los que se incluyen Dialéctica (2021) e Invierno tardío (2022), protagonizado por Mirella Pascual. Se encuentra filmando su largometraje debut, Insomnes.

NICOLÁS MEDINA

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 1994)

Egresado de la Tecnicatura en Audiovisuales de UTU, y estudiante de la Lic. en Comunicación Audiovisual de la Universidad ORT. Acreditado por la ECU en talleres de Crítica Cinematográfica, Documental Periodístico, Asistencia en Dirección, Cine y Literatura. Integrante de la Asociación de Críticos de Cine de Uruguay (ACCU) desde 2021. En 2019 integró el jurado estudiantil del 19° Festival Internacional de Escuelas de Cine (Uruguay). Jurado ACCU en el 39° Festival Cinematográfico Internacional del Uruguay y en el 40° Festival Cinematográfico Internacional del Uruguay. En 2020 dirigió el cortometraje MOV_20202809 en el marco del 8° Festival de Cine Nuevo – DETOUR el cual fue seleccionado posteriormente en distintos festivales nacionales e internacionales. En 2021 co dirigió el cortometraje N’Xalá, seleccionado en el 10° Festival de Cine Tenemos que Ver y en el 15° Festival de Cine ATLANTIDOC. En 2022 escribió y dirigió Desconocido, cortometraje de ficción a estrenarse en el 10° Festival de Cine Nuevo – DETOUR. En 2023 fue jurado FIPRESCI en el Festival de Cannes y votante en los Golden Globes. En 2024 fue jurado FIPRESCI en el Festival de Berlín.

A graduate of the Audiovisual Technical program at UTU and a student of the Bachelor’s in Audiovisual Communication at the University ORT, this individual holds accreditation from the ECU in workshops such as Film Criticism, Journalistic Documentary, Assistant Directorship, and Film and Literature. They have been a member of the Association of Film Critics of Uruguay (ACCU) since 2021. In 2019, they served on the student jury for the 19th International Film School Festival in Uruguay. They were part of the ACCU jury at the 39th and 40th International Film Festival of Uruguay. In 2020, they directed the short film «MOV_20202809» as part of the 8th Festival de Cine Nuevo – DETOUR, which was subsequently selected in various national and international festivals. LUCIANA RODRÍGUEZ

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 1984)

Fotógrafa Profesional y editora de vídeo desde el año 2010. En el año 2016 realiza el curso de Periodismo Cultural de Fundación Itaú, dónde conoce el amor por la escritura periodística y la crítica cinematográfica. En el 2017 se recibe en la Escuela Superior de Comunicación Social (UTU). En el 2019 fue seleccionada por Editorial Planeta para formar parte de un grupo de escritores amateurs y juntos editaron la novela «Un catálogo de la ausencia». Desde el 2019 participa como columnista en el programa Café Express TV, emitido por canal Nuevo Siglo Tv. Es columnista colaboradora en el medio digital Cooltivarte. Actualmente cursa la Licenciatura en Comunicación Audiovisual en la Facultad de Información y Comunicación (FIC – UDELAR). Desde el año 2021 forma parte del Festival Nacional de Cine Estudiantil FENACIES como jurado. Desde el 2022 forma parte de la Asociación de Críticos de Cine del Uruguay (ACCU). En el 2023 fue parte del jurado de ACCU en el 25° Festival Internacional de Cine de Punta del Este. Participa como votante en la 41° edición de los Golden Globes.

A professional photographer and video editor since 2010, in 2016, this individual took the Cultural Journalism course at Fundación Itaú, discovering a passion for journalistic writing and film criticism. In 2017, they graduated from the Escuela Superior de Comunicación Social (UTU). In 2019, they were selected by Editorial Planeta to be part of a group of amateur writers, collaborating on the novel «Un catálogo de la ausencia.» Since 2019, they have been a columnist on the Café Express TV program, broadcast on Nuevo Siglo Tv. They also contribute as a columnist to the digital platform Cooltivarte. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Audiovisual Communication at the Faculty of Information and Communication (FIC – UDELAR), they have been a jury member of the Festival Nacional de Cine Estudiantil FENACIES since 2021. As of 2022, they are a member of the Association of Film Critics of Uruguay (ACCU). In 2023, they served as part of the ACCU jury at the 25th Punta del Este International Film Festival and participated as a voter in the 41st edition of the Golden Globes.

IGNACIO ALCURI

(Montevideo, Uruguay, 1980)

Escritor, periodista y comunicador. Es autor de nueve libros de cuentos, una novela y una novela gráfica junto al dibujante argentino Gustavo Sala, con quien además lleva adelante un podcast. Como miembro del colectivo de humoristas Los Informantes, guionó y condujo programas de televisión y radio. Actualmente integra el área de cultura del periódico la diaria, es columnista de películas y series en el programa radial Justicia Infinita y realiza talleres de escritura en Escuela Carne.

He is a writer, journalist, and communicator. The author of nine short story books, a novel, and a graphic novel with the Argentine illustrator Gustavo Sala, with whom he also hosts a podcast. As a member of the humor collective Los Informantes, he scripted and hosted television and radio programs. Currently, he is part of the cultural department of the newspaper La Diaria, a columnist for films and series on the radio program Justicia Infinita, and conducts writing workshops at Escuela Carne.
